The upcoming title, scheduled for release in September 2010, is spotlighted in the current July issue of Previews, Diamond's retailer and consumer order catalog.

Volume 0 collects the complete 4-issue run of Adventure Strip Digest, which was the series' original home before being re-launched as Rob Hanes Adventures. The stories have been completely re-lettered for this release. Successive volumes will begin collecting the current regular series.

Retailers have reported success selling Rob Hanes Adventures by racking, cross-promoting and recommending it to readers who enjoy classic adventure strips like Terry and the Pirates, Steve Canyon, Mary Perkins on Stage, and The Spirit, or the work of cartoonists with a strong, retro visual style like Alex Toth and Darwyn Cooke.

With many of these classic strips now being rediscovered in new collections by a new generation of fans, Rob Hanes Adventures fills the need for readers looking for new work with the same feel.

Spirit #1Readers who enjoy and support indie comics are also an important receptive target audience for the series.

One retailer told me that these specialized customers are often receptive to newer work in this niche.

Readers of these comics also tend to be older and are willing to spend more money on such comics and trade collections.

Similarly, a reader told me that his retailer pointed him towards my series and told him, “If you don’t like this book, I’ll refund your money.” This customer ended up buying all the back issues of the series.
