While RH Adventures is an all ages title with broad appeal, retailers who support the series and have found success carrying it have generously shared with me their tips about how they have with a little effort built a strong fanbase for the series.

KNOW YOUR CUSTOMERS: A base target for the series should be customers who purchase and enjoy classic adventure strip collections like Terry and the Pirates, Steve Canyon, Mary Perkins on Stage, the work of Alex Toth, and the Spirit Archives (or the new series). With many of these classic strips now being rediscovered in new collections by a new generation of fans, Rob Hanes Adventures fills the need for readers looking for new work with the same feel.

One retailer told me that these specialized customers are often receptive to newer work in this niche.

Readers of these comics also tend to be older and are willing to spend more money on such comics and trade collections.

Similarly, a reader told me that his retailer pointed him towards my series and told him, “If you don’t like this book, I’ll refund your money.” This customer ended up buying all the back issues of the series.

And remember, every story is self-contained making it easy for customers to jump in with any issue!
